About Prayer Requests & Prophetic Words! by Jan van Rooyen 2017.02.09

Can & Should we Pray for every Prayer Request?

Recently I received a question from someone asking me about the validity of many of the "prophetic words" & "prayer requests" doing the rounds via eMail, WhatsApp™, FaceBook™ & other Social Media, etc.. My response follows below:

We Must use the Discernment God has given Us:

There are many "prophecies" & "prayer requests" regarding various political and economic situations in our nation and the world, doing the rounds. In many of them, the Body of Christ is asked to rally together in prayer and intercession. Because of the speed of the Internet, these "words" quickly spread, and many of them are not discerned or checked for accuracy and/or legitimacy.

Firstly, I am not saying that we don't need prophecies, or that these words are wrong. Certainly, in the times we find ourselves in we need every Word from God we can get! However, I am simply saying that before we run with something, we must discern what the Heart of God truly is!

Many of these "words" are also very fear based, and I believe that fear should not be misconstrued as the Word of the Lord!

Now, even though these "words" give prayer as the answer to situations, I don't believe that prayer is the complete solution to it. By saying this, I am also not mitigating prayer, as prayer is definitely important in the Grand Scheme of things.

Regarding Present Political Situations:

Also, regarding the present situation with politics and politicians, I believe much of the following to be true:

"24 He takes away understanding from the leaders of the people of the land and of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no path. 25 They grope in the dark without light, and He makes them to stagger and wander like a drunken man."
Job 12:24-25 (KJV)

Where God is not honoured and given His correct place of Authority in a people or nation, the above will be true.

I am convinced that this disregard for God is, and will only be TEMPORARY! However, for this shift to take place, it is imperative that the Church will arise and take Her rightful place as God's Authority in the earth!

Is this God's "final" Word on these Issues?

Although I do not claim at all that what I am presenting here is God's "final" Word about the issues we are facing as a nation and the world, I do believe this forms at least part of His Word to the Church at this time.

I Spoke to the Lord about this...

As mentioned, I have noticed that many of the "prophetic" words being released in recent times have had an emphasis on rallying the people of God together to pray.

My enquiry of the Lord about this revealed that even though prayer is an important part of our walk with God, it must be done in conjunction with other stipulations from the Word. It must "speak forth" and release the Will of God!

"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." Acts 2:42 (KJV)

In this very foundational verse, we see that prayer comes at the end - after teaching and doctrine, fellowship with God and the saints, the breaking of bread and sharing of the Word.

Also, the Lord spoke the following to me recently:

"11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst." Amos 8:11-13 (KJV)

What I believe He is saying is that even though the Word is being preached across this nation and the world, the people of God are not hearing what He is saying. There is not a lack of preaching and teaching. There is a lack of hearing and obviously, implementation of the Word (obedience). This implementation includes accurate Governmental Prayers which declare forth the present Proceeding Word of the Lord.

The way I understand it, before we even dare open our mouths to declare His Will and Purposes in prayer, we must first "become" the very Word we want to pray. We must be so "one" with Christ and His Word that our very physical presence (because of the Presence of Christ in us) in any given geographical place or sphere, will shift spiritual atmospheres and dimensions. The Presence of Christ will bring them into alignment with the Heavenlies! A Spiritual Convergence will take place.

This is the way we see Christ operating when He was physically walking the face of the earth. He would simply go about His daily task and travels, and wherever and whenever He arrived somewhere, the spiritual atmosphere shifted so much that demons would cry out, and people would get healed, etc..

Christ is God's Gate!

Christ Himself was the "portable" place of convergence between the spiritual and the natural. He was God's Gate for allowing Heaven into the earth. We, as the Church, must now become that Gate - that place of convergence!

The praying Jesus did mostly took place on the mountain during the night! These times of fellowship and transacting with His Heavenly Father prepared Him for each day ahead of time.

The Greatest Season for the Church has Now Arrived!

What I am saying with all of this is that the greatest Season for the Church has now arrived. However, before we will enter the full experience of this new season, a migration must take place! A migration from having an "our needs met" attitude towards a posture of "what are the needs of God?"

Does God have needs? Not really!

However, He does "need" to have His Will and Purposes done in the earth. And, the instrument(s) He has chosen for this purpose? The Church, the People of God.

The "problem" God has with this is that as long as His People are "need" oriented, their focus and prayers will be on themselves. Becoming completely "one" with Christ requires, of necessity, that we take the focus off ourselves and completely onto Him.

The result will be that we migrate into a position where we hear and see what God is doing and saying, and where we can do likewise. Our motivation should be the same as that of Christ:

"Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and TO FINISH HIS WORK."
John 4:34 (KJV)

"1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."
Habakkuk 2:1-3 (KJV)

The time is now for the Church to become accurately aligned with the Will and Purposes of God, so these may be made manifest in the earth.

Our eyes must be totally focused on Him, and Him alone. When this takes place to its fullest extent, we will become the Gate(s) of God that will overcome and overrun the gates of hell.

The end result will be that His Glory will be manifested upon the Church, and we WILL ultimately see the Glory of God cover the earth like never before!

In the Father's Love and Grace
